Year 2 have been getting very messy in Art as they explored the wonderful world of clay! The children loved experimenting with different techniques, using their hands and a variety of tools to shape, smooth and create their designs.
They began by practising making simple shapes, learning how to roll, pinch and press the clay with control. Next, they moved on to creating their own clay pots using the thumb technique, carefully shaping the clay and developing their fine motor skills along the way.
To finish the project, each child designed and made a clay tile, which will come together to form a fantastic class house. The children showed brilliant creativity, focus and pride in their work — and the classroom was buzzing with excitement throughout!
We can’t wait to see the finished class creation on display!
