Safer Internet Use at Audlem St James

New E-Safety Champions
Our e-safety champions met Gresty the Lion when taking part in their e-safety training at the Alexandra Stadium. The Officers looked at the many issues facing children online and came away with a lot of ideas about how they could promote e-safety and awareness at school.

E-Safety Assembly
The new e-safety champions presented an e-safety assembly to the whole school with Mrs Richardson. They encouraged the children to guess the age limits on some games and then they discussed the school's e-safety rules. They talked about how the most important person to keep each child safe is themselves, by not giving out any personal information including their school online.

E-Safety Rules

  • Do keep your passwords and personal information private.
  • Do report anything you find whilst on the computer that upsets or worries you to an adult.
  • Do take regular breaks away from the computer.
  • Do remember to be polite and kind to others whilst on the computer.
  • Do ask adults before downloading anything whilst on the computer

Safer School partnership: Internet Safety Training
Mrs Richardson took KS2 pupils to Cheshire Police Headquarters in Winsford to receive training from CEOP. With their team they then led assemblies, launched competitions and generally reminded all of us about staying safe online. The training was aimed to assist schools in delivering a whole school approach that empowers all with the relevant, up-to-date information on using the internet and whilst doing so keeping safe.

The staff training was an induction to the "Thinkuknow" Programme, delivered by CEOP Ambassadors and provided an overview of CEOP and the "Thinkuknow" education programme.
The children were introduced to new technologies and how young people use them. Moreover, it highlighted some of the risks associated with these online environments and showed how the free "Thinuknow" education resources respond to these risks.

Safer Internet Day
As part of safer internet day 2016, the E-Safety Champions led workshops for KS1 and KS2. The aim being to help children learn how to be respectful and safe online. Using the story of The Three Little Pigs the E-Safety Champions taught EYFS and Y1 not to reveal personal information to strangers. Year 2 children dressed up as Superheros and they zapped inappropriate POP UPs online through role play.

E-Safety Poster Competition
The E-Safety Champions organised an E-Safety poster competition as part of Safer Internet Day. We had lots of fantastic entries that promoted a positive approach to safety online.
