As part of our Fieldwork Fortnight and our study into the farming practices of the Maya, Diamond Class are testing the soil of nine different areas of the school grounds for the perfect place to grow crops.
They have taken soil samples, added water and shaken them. When the soil settles in the jars, they will be able to measure the percentage of sand, silt and clay to determine whether the soil is loamy or if it is too sandy or clayey.
