Sports Funding

The government provides sports funding for school sport and PE focused on schools "creating a culture in our schools that encourages all children to be active and enjoy sport." This additional funding is provided to schools to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. Schools are able to pay for extra coaching sessions to improve the quality of sports and PE provision.

How are we using the funding?

• To increase pupils' participation in the sports and physical activities in competitions within school and inter school and Level 2 competitions with other schools.
• To provide a wider range of after school activities/clubs for pupils.
• To increase the knowledge and skills of staff CPD within P.E. curriculum
• To use Amaven as an assessment tool to measure children's physical literacy and plan and deliver targeted lessons and Active Homework matched to children's needs.
• To install an all weather pathway on the school field to enable children to:

Complete Active Audlem sessions more regularly & and in all weathers
Complete a 'Daily Mile' in all weather conditions
Provide an opportunity for the whole school community (including parents and carers) to engage with physical literacy
To enhance concentration in academic sessions through increased physical activity levels

• To provide training for Play Leaders in delivering lunchtime 'Level 0' competitions for all children to participate in.
• To further promote Keeping Healthy and Safe lifeskills through themed weeks.

Throughout this year at Audlem St James we are planning on using our sports funding money to enhance PE in a range of ways – please see the attached documents for details of our plans and the impact of our use of sports funding last year.
