World Book Day

World Book Day was celebrated by the children at Audlem St James with a special story telling event with Alia Alzougbi from Settle Stories who told tales from the Arabian Nights. The children shared special reading activities each day in preparation for World Book Day. The children in Pearl Class took part in the online Author and Illustrator Academy, learning how to make a Picture Book Theatre with Lydia Monks and create a dragon using a potato with Joseph Coelho and Fiona Lumbers. The children listened to dragon stories with Mrs Richardson and Mrs Smith in preparation for a fantastic dragon quiz. On World Book Day, the children created their own interactive book inspired by Tom Fletcher's 'There's a monster in my book.'

Some children took part in a sponsored Reading Stars challenge. The game encouraged the children to enjoy books and read together at home and reminded them of all the exciting ways you can share stories. From reading a book that makes you giggle to finding the most unusual place to share a story, the children had fun reaching all their stars!
