The children in Pearl Class considered the questions: Why is waterproof material sometimes used for making clothes? Why do materials need to be waterproof? They discovered the effect of rubbing wax onto a range of different materials. They discovered that wax is waterproof and so it doesn't absorb water. When the water touches the wax it rolls off. The children worked scientifically by using equipment, observing closely, performing simple tests and reaching conclusions using evidence.
