The children learned that it is important to be able to name feelings and then talk about how these feelings influence how their bodies behave. Circle activities allowed the children to verbalise this:
When I am angry I feel hot.
When I am excited I shiver.
This is important, as it helps the children to recognise body signals so that they can choose the appropriate response to make.
Using film clips from the movie 'Inside Out,' the children named emotions and explored their affects.
The children were introduced to strategies that they can use when they need to relax or take a breath before acting. These techniques included bubble relaxation, colour breathing and meditation. The younger children practised mindful colouring.
