During Maths Week Pearl class explored 3D shapes. They solved this problem as a starting point for investigation:
Year 2 are using straws to make 3D shapes. Each child is given 12 straws to make a cuboid. Is this the right amount? Explain how you know.
The children then applied this knowledge when using straws to make a cube. They explained clearly the similarities and differences between a cube and a cuboid. They described the properties of each shape using mathematical vocabulary.
