Pearl Class experienced life as it was over 100 years ago through the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a recreated Victorian Town at Blists Hill Open Air Museum, near Ironbridge. The Victorian characters gave a fascinating insight into Victorian life as they went about their daily lives in their cottages, shops and places of work.
We exchanged money at the Bank into pounds, shillings and pence. Then we found out about curious remedies in the Victorian Pharmacy and we admired the products on sale in the Grocers and the General Drapers and Outfitters. We chose from a range of 'old favourites' in the sweetshop and we took a look inside Victorian cottages and discovered what life was like for a Victorian housewife.
The children then dressed up as Victorian school children and they experienced a lesson as it would have been taught long ago. They learned about the school teacher and about the discipline regime they would be subjected to.
