The Banana Split

Home » News » The Banana Split

The children in Pearl Class have learned about the journey of a banana from where it grows to reaching our tables. They have discovered the roles of people involved in the process including:
Banana Worker
Plantation Owner
Shops and supermarkets
Importer and ripener

food miles
fair trade
fruit bowl 2
fruit bowl

They then decided how much each person should be paid from the sale of a banana.
Who gets what? You decide!
Decide how much each group should get from a banana costing 20p?
Who do you think deserves the most from the sale of the banana? Why do you think so?

The children gave some very thoughtful responses. The children also consider Food Miles. How many miles their food travels to reach their table and how this influences the cost of the product.
