School webteam: October 2016
A visit from the Audlem Fire Fighters formed part of Key Stage One's work on the topic "Fire and Light" and involved helping to educate the children about people in and around the community who keep us safe. The fire fighters showed us how important it is for the children to know how to respond in an emergency and how to keep themselves safe. Working with the team allowed the children to have the opportunity to learn these safety messages in a safe, fun way.
The children would like to share with you two important messages:
1. Always check that your fire alarm has a new battery and is working.
2. Talk to your family about what to do in the event of a fire. Have a plan!
The children learned about the role of the fire fighter and they enjoyed trying on the uniforms. The children were given a tour of the fire engine and found out about the equipment and what it is used for. The children had the opportunity to practise their aim by trying to knock a ball off the top of a cone using the fire hoses to squirt water,
A BIG THANK YOU from the children and staff to the fire fighters who made this such a special experience.
