Parents and children worked together in Pearl Class to explore the capacity of puddles and to make fantastic potions. They estimated how much liquid a container would hold and then drew a puddle shape that they thought their container might fill. Then they ordered their containers from the container holding the least to the most. Fantastic estimating from all! The children then read scales with different intervals. They calculated how many different ways to make 100ml and then extended this further by creating a potion containing about 1000ml or 1 litre of liquid. Here is an example of one potion:
200ml of troll's boogies, 300ml of dragon's blood and 500ml of mountain haze = 1000ml potion.
