School webteam: January 2016
Two children from upper key stage 2 had the opportunity to attend the SCIE Safer Partnership training organised by Cheshire Police Constabulary. They visited Cheshire Police Headquarters and were trained as E- Safety Champions. The two children represented our school well and were commended by the Police Officers for their diligence and hard work. The children will lead a team of children from Key Stage 2 to promote E-Safety within school. Research shows that children are more receptive to E-Safety messages when they are presented and promoted by their respected peers. In their new role as E-Safety Champions, they will share their knowledge and skills with a representative from Year 4 and Year 3.
Our E-Safety Team attended the Internet Safety Roadshow organised by Cheshire Police at Crewe Alex FC. They had the opportunity to listen to key speakers including PC Liz Stanton MBE from Cheshire Police, Henry Platten representing E-Cadets and Kevin Daly, PCCGB. The children had the opportunity to take part in an 'Into The Screen' Workshop from One Day Creative and view a presentation by James Massey from Discovery Education.
The team will use this newly acquired skill set to prepare an E-Safety week within school. They will launch an E-Safety poster competition to mark Internet Safety Day on Tuesday 9th February and they have invited PCSO Nick into school to carry out workshops within school. The children will be learning about the online community and promoting key safety themes such as Powerful Strong Passwords, Showing Respect Online and Privacy Rules. Our aim is to promote Super Digital Citizens who behave safely and responsibly online.
The children greatly enjoyed their visit to Crewe Alex Football Club. They had a tour of the stadium and were overwhelmed when they were rewarded with a ticket to a forthcoming football match.
