School webteam: July 2016
We celebrated the Queen's 90th birthday in June and classes across school produced some super work linked to this. EYFS and KS1 read the 'Queen's Knickers' by Nicholas Allan and designed brightly coloured underwear for the Queen which was used as bunting. Year 2 designed knickers in the style of the artist Jean Dubuffet and also created a portrait of the Queen. In KS2 the children learned about the Queen's life and explored Pop Art in their portraits of the Queen. The children shared their work with their parents and carers. We enjoyed a special themed 'street party' lunch to celebrate the Queen's birthday. The children all looked wonderful in their specially made crowns and surrounded by the hand made bunting and decorations. The sun shone as we enjoyed renditions of God Save our Queen and a special performance from Miss Danha's talented Dance Team who recreated their dance based on the Queen's birthday. This was a truly memorable event for everyone involved.
