Friends of Audlem St James are a group of enthusiastic parents and carers with the primary aim of fund raising for projects or resources that directly benefit our children. We are passionate about making learning fun and accessible for all brilliant young minds to nurture a culture of imagination and intrigue which we hope children will carry through the rest of their lives.
If you have ideas and can spare a few hours a week to help with this privilege, we would like to hear from you. Whether you want to help out occasionally to support a specific event or have your sights set on a full committee role, we have a place for you. Please get in touch; your work may just change a young life.
Over 2017 we held a teddy bears picnic to welcome our new children who had joined Reception, a spooky disco, pub quizzes and the epic Christmas Fair. These events directly benefitted your children, providing transport to take each and every child for a day out to Chester Zoo.
In addition, we were extremely proud to have been the sole provider of funding that enabled the children to experience visits from "Zoo Lab" and "Science Boffins"; breaking down the barriers to science and bringing the classroom alive with laughter and wonder. Sadly, educational programmes like this, once seen as a vital part of the curriculum, are now only possible through extensive fund raising.
We have set our sights on something very special for 2018 and it requires your support more than ever. Our goal is to provide each classroom in the school with their own library corner, complete with comfortable seating and age appropriate literature to excite and enthral. We want our children to feel inspired or have somewhere calm to take time out and completely lose themselves in a good book. Reading opens up a million different worlds for growing minds and helps develop imagination, vocabulary and language skills.
We know undertaking this project will be a challenge and to do it properly we have set ourselves a target of raising £1,750.00 by September. For anyone who can appreciate the change reading can make to a young life we make a direct appeal for support; whether that's volunteering your time, coming along to support one of our events or sponsoring the purchase of a book. We want to hear from you. Please contact the school office on 01270 685120 for more information.
